Made to Measure vs Ready-Made
If you've begun your search for the ultimate power suit, buying off the rack may seem like the easiest option. While the speed of acquisition may be appealing, do yourself the favor of reading why you will always be better off buying custom.
The Perfect Fit
When determining the size standard for clothing, each brand uses a fit model. They then increase and decrease each of the measurements to get the different sizes. The problem is that each size is based on the original proportions of the model. Unless you have those same proportions, it is unlikely that the suit will fit you well.
This is where the value of made-to-measure suiting shines! Imagine not having to worry about your suit fitting since it was made with your own unique measurements. Each Koviem suit is made entirely from scratch using the measurements submitted by the client. Our tailor designs a completely new pattern and creates the suit from that. Using the photos you submit, the tailor also makes adjustments for things like the slope of your shoulders and arch or your back to ensure that your jacket fits perfectly.
While you can always take an off-the-rack suit to a tailor for alterations, there is a level of precision that is only achievable when making the suit from scratch.
How many times have you purchased something and wished it had more buttons, a different lining, or a different color? Since each suit is made from scratch, the options are truly limitless. If you have any questions or are looking for something unique, feel free to schedule a phone consultation with a Koviem stylist. We'll work with you to create a design that you'll love.
Imagine never having to settle for something you dont like.
A Personlized Experience
When you order a custom tailored suit from Koviem, a stylist will be assigned to you. This person will be available to answer any of your questions and walk you through the entire suiting process. The stylist can also give you advice if it's your first time getting something made and are having difficulty deciding between silhouettes. With off-the-rack, these personalized services are not possible.
Better Quality Fabrics
As you probably would expect, made-to-measure suits are usually of much higher quality than off the rack. You can even choose to upgrade to premium fabrics if you're really looking for a luxurious experience. With ready-made suits, what you see is what you get.
For most suits, Koviem uses year-round suiting wool sourced from Britain and Italy. You can read more about why we choose to use this sustainable fabric and it's many benefits here.
It Makes Sense Financially
While the initial cost of a custom suit is usually higher than it's ready-made counterpart, it's important to look at how much you will be spending to maintain the suit and it's longevity. After factoring in alterations, repairs, and the shorter lifetime, custom is always better.
Alterations: With a made-to-measure suits, alterations are unnecessary since the suit was designed to fit you.
Repairs: The construction of Koviem custom suit is much better than ready-made since many parts are made by hand instead of machine. With better construction, you are sure to pay less down the line for repairs.
Longevity: While you can wear the same custom suit for decades, it is likely that you will have worn-out a ready-made suit after a few months of constant wear.
